Who to Learn Martial arts from in Hampton roads, Open Hand ( Karate )

Sensei Noel Smith develops his students in the art of Kobayashi Shorin-ryu as he was taught by Sense Shugoro Nakazato in while living in Okinawa for 4 years.  While living on the island of Okinawa, Sensei Noel Smith learned not only karate but he immersed himself in the Okinawan culture, which is essential to understanding Okinawan Karate.

OBI Karate of Virginia teaches the Karate that Sensei Noel Smith learned directly from his teacher Sensei Shugoro Nakazato.  Only at OBI Karate school, will you learn the intregral aspects that are missing from so many other schools.

Many schools teach their students that Sensei Shugoro Nakazato was taught by Sensei Chibana, and Sensei Chibana was taught byAnko Itosu, this is Sensei Shugoro Nakazato's Lineage.  Sensei Chibana is the first generation student of Anko Itosu, and Sensei Shugoro Nakazato is the first generation student of Sense Chibana.  Being a first generation, gives the student greater understanding of the teachings because they are close to the source, like in business, they are said to have "institutional knowledge".

Institutional Knowledge is defined as:
Institutional knowledge is gained by organizations translating historical data into useful knowledge and wisdom. Memory depends upon the preservation of data and also the analytical skills necessary for its effective use within the organization.

The further one is from the source the less institutional knowledge they will have.  This is why it is important that if you want to train in Karate, you should really consider training under someone who is nearer the source such as Sensei Noel Smith in Virginia Beach, Hampton roads.
